I'm excited to be able to present to you my new collection of songs and solo show "An Madra Rua" with a full band for the first time. These songs have a been a meaningful experience to me in the writing. I've moved in a new direction not in order to remove myself from the Bonnevilles style but in order to challenge myself as an artist and songwriter which can only make everything else I do better.

I've taken inspiration from Irish mythology and the landscape around where I live in Lurgan in North Armagh, right on the edge of Lough Neagh. I've incorporated stories about Li Ban the mermaid who lives in the Lough and the beauty of the nature around us here in the place and tried to tie the old with the new. I believe these old stories are lessons that we can apply to our modern life and as we lose these stories we loose a part of ourselves.

THE SHOW
I'll be playing a few tracks solo, a couple of Bonnevilles classics most likely will make it into the set and then as I bring the band on stage I'll be sharing with you a some film I'll be putting together that will bring another element to the show and those of you that have seen my solo gigs in the past will know I indulge in story telling about the songs, how they came to be and what they mean to me. This time I'll also have a poem or two from the story of Li Ban and others.

THE BAND
LAURA KERR Playing with me will be my cousin Laura Kerr on Fiddle, Laura is a stalwart of the traditional music scene and can be found at seisuns all over including a regular at Maddens in Belfast.

JOSEPH TOMAN On Piano I will be joined by Joseph Toman, as well as being another relative, multi-instrumentalist Joseph can found touring the world as Amy Montgomerys Piano player and a session man on so many other recordings.

SUMMER McGIBBON On Bass my daughter Summer will be playing with me, Summer played with Laura and I at our recent sold out gig at The American Bar in Belfast. A newcomer to the gig scene but is already making a name for herself.

LILY McGIBBON My youngest daughter Lily will be providing backing vocals, she has a musical theatre background and has sung on stage with The Bonnevilles a few times as well as in the studio for the song No Law In Lurgan. A beautiful voice.

GERARD SKELLY Finally providing some percussion for us we have Gerard Skelly. Gerard is the drummer in Papa Luna (and others) and recently played a gig with The Bonnevilles in Lurgan. I asked Gerard if he'd do this gig after watching him soundcheck. I can't wait to hear what Gerard brings to the sound.
